海外では、スター・ウォーズのファンクラブが定期的にファンミーティングという形で、交流イベントが定期的にあったり、規模の大小はあるものの、世界各国でスター・ウォーズ関連のコンベンションがたくさん開催されています。
ここ日本でも、スター・ウォーズファンが集まるイベントを開催し、盛り上げよう、楽しもう、というのが、水分農場組合です。コンセプトは「スター・ウォーズファンによるスター・ウォーズファンのための交流イベント」。コレクターによる自慢のコレクションやスター・ウォーズファンによる作品を会場に並べて、コレクション談義や情報交換の場を設けています。
水分農場組合は、ルーク・スカイウォーカーが育ったタトウィーンの地で営まれていた「水分抽出農場」にちなんで名づけられました。厳しい環境の中でもたくましく生きる水分抽出農場に負けず、スター・ウォーズ談義で生活に潤い（水分）を補給しましょう。

【きっかけ】 水分農場組合は、mixiのコミュ「Celebration Japan 2 Coucil」での書き込みが元になって生まれました。2010年の9月、「さてセレブレーション5も終わって、次はセレブレーションジャパン２だ！」ということで、日本でもスター・ウォーズを盛り上げてスター・ウォーズ セレブレーションをもう一度日本に呼び込みたい、という想いからコミュが出来上がり、その中で語り合ううちに、「ファンミーティングの開催」という案が持ち上がったのです。 【海外では定期的に】スター・ウォーズのファン団体のサイトを見たり、ファンクラブメンバーに聞いたりすると、海外ではファンミーティングという形で、交流イベントを定期的にやっているというのがわかりました。規模の大小はあるものの、世界各国でコンベンションという形でイベントがけっこう行われています。2008年に日本で開催されたセレブレーション・ジャパンでは17,000人もの来場者がありましたが、これだけのスター・ウォーズファンを擁する日本で、私たちの知る限り、スター・ウォーズファンを対象にした定期的なイベントは残念ながら開かれていませんでした。
【ファンによるファンのためのイベント】 だったら自らイベントをやって盛り上げよう、というのが、水分農場組合のはじまりでした。 設立の際のコンセプトは「スター・ウォーズファンによるスター・ウォーズファンのための交流イベント」。コレクターによる自慢のコレクションやスター・ウォーズファンによる作品を会場に並べ、団体・クラブといった枠を超えて、コレクション談義や情報交換をしましょう、という呼びかけをmixiコミュでしたところ、多くの方からの賛同があり、それならばまずやってみよう、と会場を予約し、2011年2月19日に第1回目のファンミーティングを開催することになったのです。

Kick-off Moisture Farmers Union was born based on the notes exchanged in a Community “Celebration Japan 2 council” in MIXI, which was set up among the Star Wars fans who wanted to have “Star Wars Celebration Japan” again. An idea emerged among the members to hold a Star Wars Fan meeting periodically in Japan.
Star Wars Fan Club overseas Looking into Webs of Star Wars Fan clubs and exchanging me…ssages with overseas fans, we found they were holding Fan Club Meetings periodically. 17,000 people took part in the Celebration held in 2008, but so long as we know, there was no such a gathering for Star Wars Fan anywhere in Japan so far.
An event of Star Wars Fan for Star Wars Fans “If so we should have an event ourselves”. This is the start of the “Moisture Farmers Union”. The concept of the Union is to have “an event of the Star Wars Fans for the Star Wars Fans” to exhibit boastful Star Wars collections or some works by Star Wars fans or to provide a place to exchange related information among the fans. We notified this idea through MIXI, and there were many favorable answers. Then, we had the first Fan Meeting on February 19th 2011.
The name of the meeting, “Moisture Farmers Union”. When we planned the meeting, even the name of the event was not decided yet. Among several ideas, we adopted on January 2011, one month before the event a name of “ Moisture Farmers Union” which was for Lars’ Moisture Farm on Tattooine where Luke Skywalker grew up.
Adequate size, and healthy continuity The first meeting was held at Ikegami Kaikan in this February, of which size was 118 square meter. The second meeting was on September 24th’2011 at Camellia Plaza which was 232 square meter. We are hoping to hold such meeting once or twice a year hereafter and make it a pleasant one for Star Wars Fans to be able to spend a happy time there. Keeping the Concept of the Union, we would like to make this event such a place through which Star Wars Fan society can grow beyond generation, region and group and with no commercialism. At first, we thought that this would be a trigger for “Star Wars Celebration Japan 2”( still hoping so, though), but now would like to make this a continuing event for fans of Star Wars Saga of which will continue from now on. Please join us and let’s expand the Star Wars Fan society.
